A BREATH OF FRESH AIR

At Cooke Counseling Group, we’re a trauma-informed practice that helps people move beyond survival mode and into lives that feel rooted, connected, and sustainable. Our approach is culturally humble, body-centered, and deeply honest. We skip the clinical jargon and perfection talk and get real about the pressure, pain, and patterns that are keeping you stuck.

Whether you’re a first responder who feels like they can never turn off, a caregiver constantly showing up for others, or just someone who’s exhausted from always having to be “the strong one,” this is a place where you get to be fully human. Without judgment. Without shame. Just real talk, deep healing, and actionable support.

ASHLEY KNIGHT, MSW, LCSW

SHE/HER

Hey, I’m Ashley, founder of Cooke Counseling Group. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a former first responder, and I know firsthand what it’s like to show up even when you’re running on empty.

I started this practice because I believe therapy should feel empowering, not performative. My clients know me for being real, grounded, and transparent—I’m not the kind of therapist who hides behind a clipboard. I’ll meet you with humor, honesty, and a deep belief in your ability to heal—even if you’ve never had space to slow down before.

CLINICAL SKILLS, LIVED WISDOM

AND A WHOLE LOT OF HEART

I’m passionate about helping people reconnect with themselves through boundaries, nervous system regulation, and truth-telling (especially the kind we’re taught to bury). And I love working with folks who’ve been told they’re “too much” or who feel like they have to constantly keep it together. You don’t have to do this alone. I’ve got you.

My clinical approach is rooted in trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and evidence-based practice—with room for your lived truth, your body’s wisdom, and your voice.

I'VE TRAINED IN MODALITIES LIKE:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy-Informed

  • Somatic approaches for nervous system support and regulation

  • Attachment-based and relational therapy

I ALSO SPECIALIZE IN:

  • LGBTQIA+ affirming care

  • Therapy for women and teen girls

  • Support for first responders and caregivers

  • Clinical supervision and consultation for mental health professionals

MORE ABOUT ME

I earned my Master’s in Social Work at North Carolina Central University in 2014. My work is constantly evolving as I continue to learn, unlearn, and listen—especially to those whose voices have been historically marginalized in mental health spaces.

When I’m not in sessions, I’m practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, cooking something comforting, or spending time with my animals. I believe joy, rest, and movement are sacred, and I help my clients rediscover those for themselves.
